Mgahinga Gorilla Flying Safari, will take you through Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to track the rare and endangered mountain gorillas, golden monkeys as well as a visit to the first people – the Batwa.
Located in the Virunga Mountains, the park is contiguous with the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; The Park takes its name from “Gahinga” – the local word for the piles of volcanic stones cleared from farmland at the foot of the volcanoes. It was created to protect the rare mountain gorillas that inhabit its dense forests, and it is also an important habitat for the endangered golden monkey. The park also has a huge cultural significance, in particular for the indigenous Batwa pygmies.
